The cattle are being loaded as we get set to head to Fort Worth and the Southwestern Exposition. The cattle are rested after the long trip back from Denver and the crew was home long enough to get clean clothes. Move-in of exhibitors will be today and tomorrow. For those who have never been to the Fort Worth Stock Show it is a great event. The folks in the Texas Associations do a fantastic job in putting out the Welcome mat and after Denver we find it very relaxing. On Sunday (the 30th) will be the Pen of Three show and also the Cowtown Select Sale. Star Lake is offering a very nice heifer in this sale that you will want to be sure and check out. We have complete details on our website so CLICK HERE or look her up in person or in the sale catalog. If you have any questions at all please contact any Star Lake representative.
The Southwestern Exposition National Hereford Show will be held on January 31st starting at 8 am. The show is being judged this year by Bill Bigelini from Douglas, Manitoba, Canada. You can watch the entire show via the internet through EDJE Technologies. Star Lake is pleased to have worked with Nicole Rathbun at EDJE to help sponsor this broadcast to Hereford enthusiasts that could not be in Ft. Worth in person. Look to our website for details on how to watch as we get closer to show day.
Congrats again to Mallorie Phelps as she won the Ft Worth Junior show with STAR KKH Mirror Image 286W ET. This is the same heifer that was just named National Grand Champion Polled Hereford Female at the 2011 National Western. Young Mallorie is a very talented gal and has a tremendous streak of wins being put together in a number of areas. We are very proud of her and her well earned successes. I do intend to partner with her on a batch of lottery tickets in the next week!
As many of you know the Super Bowl will be held Feb 6th in the DFW metro area. Rumor has it that with the pre Super Bowl hype there will be a few extra people and focus on the Stock Show and the old Ft. Worth Stockyards. We will keep you posted. Look for daily reports for the next week - questions let us know! Till tomorrow...south bound and down!
