Friday @ The Stock Show

Another fantastic day at the National Western in Denver. The excitement continues to build in the Hereford aisles as the Pen and Carload shows where held yesterday.  The aisles and stalls on the Hill are also quite busy.

In the Heifer Pens of 3, K7 Herefords from Iowa led there trio into the winners circle.

The Carload show saw Star Lake's group of 10 Junior Bull Calves win the Grand Champion Carload trophy. Mrnak Herefords of ND had Reserve.

In the Bull Pen of 3 the awards went to Hoffman Herefords of Nebraska had Grand Champion Pen and Sandhill Farms of Kansas took Reserve.

This is the eleventh year in a row that our carload has been awarded the Grand Champion Carload trophy... quite a stretch. This all comes down to the dedication and hard work of our ranch staff and show crew. To Montie, Todd, Max, Josh, Robbie, Jon, Jaci, Kasey, Tommy, Bradley, Matt (Walnut), Bobby, Dale, Matt, Austin, Frosty, and everyone else thank you from the bottom of our heart!!!

To Brad & Dustin calving cows out back home... you are responsible for getting the 2011 carload on the ground. Those calves will be the makings of our next entry.

Thank you to Jim Hoffman of Indiana for purchasing STAR Ring of Fire 145W ET in The Yards prior to the showing of the carload.

The Hereford Hospitality Area has been a busy place and we thank everyone for signing up at our display booth. AHA must be selling a lot of clothing in the Hereford apparel shop as its great to see the large amounts of Hereford insignia apparel on the grounds.

Friday brings the Bull Show on The Hill and we will have five contenders for Judge Gary Buchholtz to analyze. We would like to wish all the other exhibitors good luck. The Female show will conclude the Hereford activities in Denver on Saturday.

The Mile High Night sale will take place this evening in the Beef Palace Auction Arena at 6 PM (MST).  The 50 lots will be offered to a capacity crowd and the Lot 1 benefits the Hereford Youth Foundation.  If you can't be here in person bids can be placed through the AHA field staff or you can follow the sale at LiveAuctions.tv

We are also pleased to announce that Buffalo Bend Farm in Tennessee has purchased and interest in STAR KKH SSF Olivia 15U. Olivia has made a mark in the showring and in many Hereford breeders' hearts. This Online daughter out of the Keysha cow was the National Junior Calf Champion here in Denver last year and she was the '09 Junior National Hereford Expo Reserve Grand Champion in both the Bred & Owned and the Owned Shows. Then two months ago she was named the Grand Champion Heifer at the North American. Olivia looks to be a big part of our future plans and we welcome Buffalo Bend Farm as our partner. Olivia is also owned with Kasey Herman and Sunnyside Stock Farm.

We will report the Bull Show results tomorrow.
