ET Heifer and Starter Herd Top August Internet Auction

This past Monday night we closed our August Internet Auction with the largest crowd of bidders and watchers that we have had in recent months. They all joined us on LiveAuctions.tv to see the close out of our 3rd Anniversary of our Monthly Internet Auctions. The sale this month featured the first ET heifer calf that we have sold from our 2010 calf crop - an awesome bred heifer sired by Battle Ground - 13 of the best embryo lots that we have offered and we finished out with a first time offering of a Starter Herd in an Auction format! To say the least we were excited about this offereing and judging by the bids we received Monday night the crowd online was too!

The top selling lot in this month's auction was the Starter Herd of Three Bred Heifers. For those of you who don't know what a Starter Herd is here is a quick description; a Starter Herd is a group of bred females either with or without calves at side that are sold at a volume discount price. These Starter Herds have gained quick acceptance from both new Hereford breeders as well as current breeders just looking to add quality cattle to their program in a quick and easy package. The Starter Herd of Three Bred Heifers we sold in our August Auction was sold for $2,300 each making the lot a total of $6,900.

The second high selling lot was the 114X ET Heifer Calf that sold as Lot 1. 114X is the first ET heifer calf that we have sold from our 2010 calf crop. This tremendous January 25th heifer is out of National Champion John Wayne and on the bottom side goes back to the power cow Queen family. When the final bid had been placed and the shot clock clicked to zero114X had sold for $5,100.

The embryos this month were also well received with the high selling lot being the Lot 14 embryos. These embryos were sired by Denver Supreme Champion, Shock & Awe, and they are out of the dam of the Louisville Reserve Grand Champion Bull, Lock-N-Load. The Lot 14 Adv Oralee embryos sold for $500 each.

When the dust had settled following this anniversary sale the gross total was just south of $30,000 with a total average of $1,835.94 and the embryos averaged $365.24 each. We would like to thank all of our bidders and buyers over the past three years. Stay tuned to the Star Lake website for the latest updates and release of our September Internet offering.
